Lets talk LASER.

In our industry, fall/winter is considered laser hair removal season for a couple of good reasons:

Since laser hair removal (LHR) requires multiple spaced-out sessions, we recommend starting around this time of year in order to be smooth & hair free in time for next year’s bikini season!
Winter’s limited sun exposure is perfect because LHR cannot be performed on deeply tanned/sunburned skin. You’ll also need to avoid excess sun directly after treatment, which is easy in the fall and winter.
If you’re thinking about getting LHR, read on to find out how our experienced laser aestheticians can help you achieve soft, smooth, hairless skin!

Is this Laser hair Removal (LHR) safe?

Absolutely. The laser itself is attracted to your hair follicles, not the surrounding tissue so it removes hairs without causing damage to your skin. Since treatment is non-invasive and requires almost no downtime, you can resume work and normal activities after your appointment.

When compared to other methods of hair removal, clients also consider LHR to actually be safer. Firstly, it omits the risk of occasionally cutting yourself with a razor and uses no harsh chemicals to irritate your skin. Secondly, unlike waxing, laser treatments don’t involve the pain of yanking each hair out by the root with hot wax and also doesn’t run the risk of pulling off the top layer of your skin.

Is everyone a good candidate for LHR?

Clients with a significant contrast between lighter skin and darker hair are ideal candidates for LHR. This allows the laser to focus directly on the pigment within the hair only and not the skin competing for it. Because of this, clients with blonde or white hair also do not see ideal results as they lack the pigment necessary for treatment. It is also vital to avoid laser over any skin rashes, infections, open wounds or tans—so if you have any of these things, you’ll want to reschedule your appointment.

What areas can be treated?

LHR is a safe and effective way to permanently reduce hair on nearly your entire body, but is most commonly performed on:

Face
Bikini Area/Brazilian
Legs
Arms
Chest
Underarms

How many treatments do I need? How often?

The number of sessions needed varies from person to person because everyone’s body is different, but we recommend 8-10 sessions depending on the size of the treatment area and the hair growth cycle. Each session should be scheduled about 6 weeks apart to align with your natural hair growth cycle, ensuring that all hairs can be treated.

What are the costs?

Price ranges are flexible and depend on how many sessions you’ll need and how large the treatment area is. We offer single-treatment prices for those who prefer to pay as you go, and we have package deals which include 9 treatments for a single discounted price. When you consider the lifetime value of shave-free days, the expertise needed (aestheticians must be laser-certified to operate the machine), the hi-tech equipment involved, and the complete lack of razors and shaving cream, most clients feel that the costs are quite reasonable.

Single treatments range from $125 – $175 depending on size of the area treated
Package of 9 treatments range from $1,000 – $2,000 depending on areas treated

What does it feel like?

LHR works by using tiny high-heat laser beams to zap hair follicles. While you may not feel the heat, you may feel like your skin is being snapped with a small rubber band. Pain can also vary depending on which areas of the body are being treated. The more sensitive the skin is to begin with, the more discomfort there will likely be. Some clients also report experiencing a mild redness/irritation after the procedure similar to a mild sunburn.

To minimize pain, we use a cooling tip on the head of the laser which cools the skin down so you wont feel any heat. Depending on the body part and your pain tolerance, some clients typically don’t need numbing cream at all.

What about after-care?

After your appointment, the treated area will be very sensitive to sunlight and heat so we recommend avoiding UV exposure for at least 7 days post-treatment. Over the counter medication can be used for post treatment discomfort and you can also apply cool towels, ice packs, or aloe vera to alleviate discomfort. Avoid any additional laser treatments or chemical procedures on the treated area and use a broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher when outside.
