It’s that time of year again baby!
There’s so many reasons we love summer- ice cold drinks & BBQ on a hot day, trips to the beach, and of course the endless sunshine! However with all that fun in the sun, its easy to forget paying attention to the little changes in your skincare that apply in this hot and dry season. Here’s a few tips that will help you and your skin stay protected and pampered all summer long!
Without further ado, lets get to the good stuff:
In our hot and dry Las Vegas climate, we must take extra care than others to stay hydrated and protect our bodies from the sun. FUNFACT: Dry skin gets drier and oily skin gets oilier during the summer which could result in you becoming more prone to breakouts, rashes and other annoying skin concerns. HOWEVER, keeping up with these few tips could actually help you and your skin make it through another blazing summer.
- DRINK MORE WATER
This definitely shouldn’t be the first time you hear this (especially if you live in the Las Vegas desert) , but it’s completely true! Your skin is an organ made up of mostly water. Not only does water play an important role in your digestion and circulation, but it’s also vital for your skin’s health and beauty. Do not, we repeat-DO NOT wait until symptoms of dehydration appear to start drinking water. Because once you’re experiencing symptoms it already too late, but not to worry, White Coat Aesthetics has you covered with multiple types of skin rejuvenating treatments that can restore the hydration in your face and keep your skin concerns at bay.
- GET MORE VITAMIN C
Vitamin C aids the body in maintaining healthy collagen, which is the supportive tissue of the skin that helps with the skin staying healthy, firm and strong. Lots of foods rich in vitamin C can be easily found in the summer months such as peaches, lemons, limes, watermelons, berries, and plenty more to fit your palate!
- DRINK & EAT SEASONAL FOODS
This also ties into tip #2, but its because its so important! Not only are seasonal foods yummy, but seasonal produce is generally harvested at its peak so it retains its full nutrient and vitamin content. Seasonal foods also support season-specific needs, such as watermelon’s cooling ability to lower your body’s temperature. It’s also generally known that your diet will reflect through your skin, so why not nourish it from the inside out?
- DON’T NEGLECT YOUR EYES AND LIPS
Eyes and lips are some of the most notable parts of the face but unfortunately also often get neglected when it comes to sunscreen! Your lips and eyes are also just as susceptible to a sunburn as the rest of your face. (And trust us, eye sunburns are no fun) Be sure to always use protective eye wear and a lip balm that includes SPF protection. Our aesthetics specialists highly recommend using EltaMD’s line of suncare products, especially the UV Lip Balm moisturizing lip sunscreen. It has long-lasting moisturization and protects against both UVA & UVB rays and is available in our medspa as well.
- ONE MORE TIME- SUNSCREEN!!!
Sunblock, skin protective, sunscreen, sun tan lotion, sun cream, sun blocker… WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT! We can’t say it enough! Using sunscreen is the most important product you can use to protect against UV-A and UV-B rays which cause sunburns and sun damage deep into the skin. The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends EltaMD brand sunscreen as an effective broad-spectrum sunscreen that helps prevent sunburns and decreases the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun. Also, did you know that you can have internal damage being done to your skin without seeing the reddening sunburn-type of effect? Take action in preventing damage while you can, and find EltaMD Skin products at our medspa to take home with you before your next beach trip!
